I do! I’ve had a very long story of being held back with my work so this year I broke away and started writing solo music - I have 10 songs that I want to produce in the coming months 👽
All the while doing these little covers so that I can enhance my understanding of how songs are arranged and do a better job on mine!
Funnily enough I’m much more a songwriter girl and a singer first and foremost but I’m slowly trying to get better on guitar among other things 💙 this is all in all just a big big way from “I can’t make music” to “try me!” 👽
I won’t! In fact, I’m trying to prove to myself that I can eventually become as good as every musician guy that had the nerve to try and intimidate me 🌝
I’m also gonna try and make a cover of a song where I’ll play both the guitar and the flute :)
Wow! This is a delight, and very impressive. Seriously pretty hard to distinguish from the original! How did you get the synths and guitar sound so close? I can probably read all about that soon... A lovely voice in there too. Beautiful song to cover and kind of daring to take it on. So good!!!
Thank you, Benjamin! I asked my friend how to put the right effects on the guitar - from listening back I could hear lots of reverb and most importantly an octaver - like the guitar is doubled an octave higher with a pedal - and from there there’s not much else :)
With the synths I just basically listened to it a lot and then express-learned how to design sounds on my analog synth haha :D
I will make a YouTube video about how I made it for sure! :)
Dope!! So glad you put it out. This was really nice. Audio sounds great and you have a really nice voice. The visuals are really nice too. I like how you composed everything 🙏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Haha thank you! Thank you so so much! I’m going to actually edit together a process video as well haha where I talk more technically about how I made the song 👽
Oh, I like that. I have no idea about the original, but I'm mostly a 20th-century music guy.
Ah, there it is, thank you, YouTube-I liked that too. It's quite a faithful cover you've done there.
I've enjoyed both versions here, neither artist I'd heard before, so that's two new acts for the price of one, thanks very much, keep it up 😁
Now the big question is, do you do originals as well?

I also LOVE 20th century music!!
So you’re on a musical journey of self-discovery and education right now?
In which case, I’d recommend you listen to the albums Linda Ronstadt did with Nelson Riddle in the 80s. He came out of retirement to work with her.
She sings American Songbook classics immaculately.
It’d be easy to go on about the classic jazz divas- Ella, Sarah, Dinah- but their voices will have you chasing styles that aren’t yours.
Listen to Linda.
Discogs will tell you what to look for here:

You could say so! Conquering my fear of music (as the name of my Substack publication implies 👽)
I’ll definitely listen to her!
I suppose after all those years of singing I’ve developed some sense of what styles I can / like to chase and I think I’ll continue on that path ✨
Good luck with it, try and keep your ears open.
So I shall! Thank you with all my heart 👽
Great cover! And I absolutely loved how you described each step of the process, that was really interesting to hear
Thank you 👽 I’m also going to edit together my process video where I basically talk about how I made the song! Thanks so much for reading!
Great, can’t wait for reading that too!
Yay! I will definitely post about it here on Substack 👽
I loved the energy, and I love this song.
The video looks experimental, original, personal and dreamy to say the least (in a nice way!)
Thank you ,I really appreciate your wonderful feedback 🖤 Honestly, the video is just what I could put together with my zero skills 👽
Those skills are more than enough to leave a mark!
That’s so lovely to know! I’m very excited to continue on this path 👽
guitar girl on substack i have won the lottery

u have such a nice voice and please never stop playing the guitar it’s so badass😭
I won’t! In fact, I’m trying to prove to myself that I can eventually become as good as every musician guy that had the nerve to try and intimidate me 🌝

I can’t describe what it means to me to have people interested in hearing the music I make. It’s more than I could have ever dreamed of 🖤
Another fun read! It's the process you're gonna remember for the rest of your life.
I am certain you will look back at this cover around this time next year and realize how much you have progressed since.
I sincerely hope your words come true! I hope with all my heart to come back here in a year and to see that I’ve grown 💙
Thank you!

Yeah I still can’t believe this is happening cause in the last 5 years I went through so much desperation about ever having any music out
Just watched it and you did really well. Keep going
Thank you thank you 👽 I already have several songs on my mind that I want to cover next - I think about 5 :)
I love that you described the whole process. This kicked ass!
Thank you! Who are we in the world of pure results! The struggle is way more interesting and in my opinion gives more value to the result! 🙃
Nicely done!!
Thank you so much, Rodney! It’s just amazing to hear after my first official step into the big wide world 💙
Oh my god! This is fabulous!
I thank you with all my heart, sir! 💙
